Description

Representing Strategic Way Consulting, this assignment is at our Client location situated on the Lake Huron shoreline between the towns of Kincardine and Saugeen Shores. In this role, the Project Manager is accountable for the complete delivery of a large-scale, high-risk project of critical significance to the ongoing success of the client, characterized as multi-year in duration, often involving substantial safety and licensing requirements with many internal and external regulatory interactions. The successful candidate will be strategic minded with an emphasis on change management and corporate alignment while influencing multiple client stakeholders to ensure progress, risks and communications are proactively addressed.

Assignment Details:

  • Using extensive knowledge of business and management principles, manages all aspects of project planning, budgeting and resource allocation, through discussions with internal clients to define the scope of the project, deliverables and timing
  • Builds and sustains cross-functional project teams, and sets priorities/clarifies goals.
  • Reviews and approves work breakdowns, cost estimates, baseline schedules and project changes requested by internal clients.
  • Approves project scopes of work and determines project priorities and responsibilities.
  • Establishes and administers project budgets and schedules, and approves changes to them.
  • Oversee project implementation to ensure compliance to all safety and quality requirements with alignment to internal processes and procedures
  • Oversee the development of key milestones and drive stakeholders to quality completion
  • Manages the collective and individual performance of project team members, through the establishment of project related performance objectives, and the provision of both formal and informal performance feedback, mentoring and guidance to ensure project(s) success.
  • Motivates project team to deliver quality results on time and on budget, and coaches/mentors others for success.
  • Establishes and controls the project scope and manages the risks and regulatory commitments within project scope.
  • Manages and reports on project performance to clients, senior management and other stakeholders.
  • Managed and reports on project issues and risks, communicating regularly and escalation when appropriate
  • Ensure all process and program changes are in strict procedural adherence and compliance; and any inconsistencies identified and mitigated/resolved
  • Accountable to ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, safety and quality

Education

  • Degree or diploma qualification in science, engineering, construction, IT or project management
  • Primavera P6 Certification considered an asset
  • PMP designation considered an asset

Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 5 years professional experience in a similar role including being progressively responsible project experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, in a senior or lead project capacity.
  • Experience in applying all of the nine project management knowledge areas (Scope; Cost; Time; QA; Communications; Human Resources; Risk; Procurement; Integration), to large, high risk projects.
  • Experience in all of the typical phases of a project lifecycle (i.e., Project Definition; Concept Development; Detailed Design; Construction; Commissioning; and Decommissioning phases).
  • Within each phase, knowledge and experience in applying the processes for initiation, planning, executing, controlling and closing is required.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; ability to juggle multiple tasks and projects, keep everything running seamlessly and capable of multitasking
  • Able to collaborate at all levels, working with team members, senior management, and business unit owners to move projects forward. This requires excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate-level knowledge of common industry software such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint), Adobe Acrobat, MS Power BI, VISIO, Sharepoint and Primavera P6
  • Demonstrated aptitude to prioritize tasks based on comparative importance and urgency
  • Experience in Risk Management
  • Professional business communications
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Previous experience working in the nuclear industry, or similar highly regulated industry preferred
  • Nuclear site security clearance is considered an asset
