Description

Provide Radiation Safety Consultancy services, as a Radiation Safety Officer, to assist our client in the development of their Radiation Safety Program. Responsible for ensuring the health and safety of personnel, the public, the environment, in adherence to the client’s licensed activities and the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission requirements.  The ideal candidate embodies strong behavioural attributes, including being approachable, an active listener, a team player, respectful, confident in making and enforcing decisions, and possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, ideally in both English and French.

Responsibilities and Deliverables

• Oversee daily aspects of the radiation safety program
• Preparation of work instructions, supervision, and management of decontamination work
• Identify radiation safety problems
• Provide radiation safety advice to workers when requested
• Implement corrective actions
• Verify the implementation and effectiveness of the corrective actions
• Hold the authority to stop any unsafe work practices and any activity that might result in non-compliance
• Develop procedures and policies related to radiation safety and training
• Assess the performance of the radiation protection program and share the results with the applicable authority
• Act as the signing authority for CNSC licenses

Education, Experience and Qualifications

• Post-secondary education, such as a degree or diploma in science or engineering, 
• RSO Training
• Experience working in Radiation or as a RSO in the nuclear power/energy sector is an asset
• Strong knowledge of radiation safety and radiation physics
